tuesday; big day eh

So today is the 5th February. Wow a mid-week, mid-winter kind of nothing sort of day. Well hang on because today is not just Pancake day (a favourite day when I was a kid) but also Shrove Tuesday, the day before Lent when all good Christians (excuses me) confess their sins and scoff everything in the larder before the 40 days of self-denial. But let’s not stop there, it’s also Mardi Gras – something I have to go and witness in Rio before I die ….

and Super Duper Tuesday – the nearest to a national day of American presidential candidate elections. I mean does the 5th February deserve so much attention? Most days get no special significance or a day’s special attention at best. So what did this crappy day do to get so much publicity? Did the ancient owners of 5 Feb recruit the Jurassic equivalent of Hill and Knowlton to do a big PR job for them and get some recognition? Did they over-achieve? Oh I think so. Any of the above concepts is brilliant, but all 4 on one day? Who was that company; I think we need to know. I have a little company that might benefit from having 2 October (or some day equally obscure) dedicated as The Paul Leonard Consultancy day or, if that’s too crass, the pasta paulie blog day.

So, if nobody else lays claim to it, that’s my day. Please feel free to suggest your own commemorative days. Competition limited to the first 366 entrants (though some days are pretty much spoken for folks!).
