farewell to buckingham

Well we’re back in Italy at last. It’s been a chaotic couple of weeks and I simply haven’t had chance to spend time on the blog recently. We decided in the end to cut our losses on our Buckingham home after 2 and a half years of trying to sell it whilst covering mortgages/running costs on two homes. We reached agreement to hand the keys back to our bank at the end of February and left it with no regrets; it’s been a difficult period for us but we’re moving on, a little bruised but happier now. bloody weather

Well I’m staring out of the window and it’s absolutely chucking it down today in Buckingham. And it’s cold. I walked down to the shops to get a paper and some milk half an hour ago and I got soaked. Yesterday when we were inside all day at the NEC it was gloriously sunny, if a bit parky. A headline in one of the papers said that 90 mph gales, rain storms and even were on the way this weekend. Oh great.

ok so the house is 400 years old, apart from that…

You’ve heard of two jags Prescott well I’m two mortgages Leonard. We bought our lovely house in Italy using some of my package from when I left BT, the rest on a second mortgage. The idea was to sell up here in the UK and live a life of bliss among our olive groves and doing consultancy few a few marvellously generous clients. It was a great plan and would have been if the house here in Buckingham had sold within a few months. But it’s been nearly 18 months now and it’s only recently that we’ve had a steady stream of visitors to view the place. Two mortgages are not a good idea when you choose to leave permanent employment…
